Back up / restore database

You can back up and restore AnyLogic databases. Using backups, you can save "known good copies" of your database and restore data from a backed up copy in case of data loss or damage.

Backing up database

You can create a backup copy of the database. The database state will be saved in TAR.GZ file format as of the time when backup was performed.

To back up the database

  1. In the Projects view, click the model's  Database item.
  2. In the Properties view, click the Backup database... link. The Save as... dialog box will open.
  3. Browse to the location where you want to back up the database, provide the database archive file name and click Save.
Having backed up the database, you can restore the database state from the backed up copy.

Restoring database

You can restore the database from the backup file. Restoring the database you replace your current database with the backup copy you have previously created using the Backup database command.

To restore the database

  1. In the Projects view, click the model's  Database item.
  2. In the Properties view, click the Restore database... link.
  3. Since restoring a database will replace your current database with the one from the backup file, this operation needs confirmation. In the opened dialog, click OK to confirm the deletion of the current database.
  4. The Open file... dialog box will open.
  5. Browse to the location of the backup file, select the file and click Open.
The restored database will be reverted to the state it was at the point of backup.
